(Preposition)ON(MISCELLANEOUS) PART 2

SCREW ON/ONTO: fasten one thing to another. her name plate was screwed
on the door.
SEW ON/ONTO: fasten something to something else. my trouses need a new
zip to be seven on.
SLAP ON/ON TO: apply a paint etc, on a surface with a dull falt sound.
he slapped the saint on the wooden panel.
HEAVE AT/ON: to lift something with one great effort. she heaved at a
basket load of fruitS.
PUFF AT/ON: to breathe in and out while smoking. the puffed at his
pipe while talking to me.
PULL AT/ON: breathe smoke from a pipe etc. he pulled on his cigarette.
RAP AT/ON: make a sudden and sharp blow. somebody rapped on the door.
SPIT AT/ON: a blow a small amoint of saliva out of your mouth.
ADVICE ABOUT/ON:  an opinion given to somebody. i sought my parents'
advice about amy starting a business in partnership.
AGREE ABOUT/ON: to have the same opinion as others. they agree about
the scheme of rehabilitation.
CLEAR ABOUT/ON: be without doubt. i am very clear about the agreement.
HARP ABOUT/ON: to talk continuously on the same topic in an annoying
fashion. My grandfather harps on his good old days.
SPECULATE ABOUT/ON: to think or talk about something.they speculated
about the nature of death.the book speculates on life after death.
